Maybe, operationally, everything at your business seems to be going so-so. You have regular clients and customers, and your work with them is routine, smooth, and business-as-usual. But you’re at capacity, with the desire to grow and scale, without breaking your back. It’s impossible, right?

If you're a construction material distributor, the answer is to partner with Curri.

If you’re an independent courier looking for reliable gig work, you need to partner with Curri

Here, we’ll detail two mini-case studies we see time and time again at Curri. First, we’ll dive into how we streamline operations for businesses like Johnstone Supply. Then we’ll get into how we help independent drivers like Jonathan Seay boost their business as they see fit. It’s two very different sides of the same effective, efficient, fun-to-partner with coin.

A Curri tale as old as time: Streamlining operations at Johnstone Supply

Will Gerle, the primary shipper at Johnstone Supply, has to carefully balance dozens of deliveries every day at the Denver location. They ship HVAC supplies nationwide, and orders and deliveries are nonstop year-round. Previously, Will’s team had issues with conventional couriers. Orders would arrive late or damaged, or not at all, with no visibility into the route status.

Since switching to Curri, Will has been able to book drivers whenever he needs. He can customize the speed, service, and vehicle type, and a reliable, professional driver will show up on time, every time. For Will, building trust with clients is everything, and with Curri, he can do just that. Plus, he can focus less on logistics and more on big-picture operations that scale the business. Check out his story above!

The features that changed the game for Johnstone

Curri is more than a delivery service. It’s a comprehensive logistics solution. Some of our most notable features include:

  • Live-tracking: Curri sends you a live tracking link for each delivery booked, so bookers always know the delivery status for any trip. Users can even share the tracking link with relevant stakeholders and opt in to notifications for ultimate visibility.
  • Proof of delivery: Curri drivers send bookers a proof of delivery photo and signature. No need to wonder if your order got to where it needs to go. The proof is in the photo.
  • Live traffic forecasting: Heavier traffic due to an unaccounted-for event? Road closures? Road conditions creating congestion? Nothing will be a surprise thanks to Curri’s traffic forecaster. Re-route and re-plan with ease.
  • Drag-and-drop route planning with auto-assign: No convoluted route planner onboarding here! Simply drag and drop your route, and Curri will auto-assign the right driver and vehicle for the job.

And on top of that, bookers keep coming back to us because we’re easy to use. Some even call us the “Uber for Stuff,” proving our usability and efficiency are second to none.

Growing into any delivery type without exhausting the internal team

The team at Johnstone, like any Curri user, can book any delivery type. We offer both rush and scheduled service, and users can book FTL, LTL, dedicated routes, hotshots, and even parcel service. Curri users also have access to our nationwide fleet of drivers, meaning city or state lines are never a concern. Growing your fleet type and delivery radius with just a few clicks? That’s our speciality.

Driving with Curri: How Jonathan Seay grows his business on his own terms

For Jonathan, driving for Curri means he has a flexible gig where he’s his own boss. He has been picking up routine deliveries in the Denver area for over two years, and feels the job gives him pride and meaning.

Knowing his customers can depend on him, and he can make a day for both the distributor and the customer, is a huge perk, and his days are never routine or mundane. Check out the video above to hear him tell his story.

The requirements to drive for Curri

If you’re looking to get started with Curri, here’s what you’ll need after downloading the Curri Driver app:

  • You need to be at least 18 years old, with a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or an Employer Identification Number (EIN).
  • You’ll also need a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
  • You need, of course, a valid United States driver’s license.
  • You’ll need to prove you have an active auto insurance policy that meets your jurisdiction’s requirements.
  • You need a vehicle in good working condition, that’s clean, cleared, and ready for loading.

Each Curri driver also needs to complete a background check. Driver activation and clearance will also depend on your MVR checks. Once complete and accepted, onboarding will be based on the demand for your delivery area.

Onboard quickly and start getting paid

Once accepted, new Curri drivers will be put on the waiting list until we confirm there’s delivery demand in your area. From there, make sure your Curri Driver App is active, like Jonathan's, so you don’t miss new notifications. In the app, you can document your deliveries with photos, collect customer signatures, and sort your pickup and drop-off locations.

Payments are typically made based on vehicle type and driver mileage. The longer your route is, the more you’ll earn. Drivers can be strategic with their routes, like Jonathan, and accept gigs that work with their schedule to best maximize profit.

And if you’re worried about sticky contracts or being locked into specific terms, fear not. If you want to “quit,” you simply stop accepting gigs. You’re an individual contractor, and while you’re a part of the Curri team, you’re also the one in the driver’s seat. You call the shots.

Whether you’re a distributor or driver, Curri is here to empower your business to grow

So, if you’re a driver looking to grow your gigs or a business looking to streamline operations, Curri is a win-win. Whether you’re based in Philadelphia, Washington, Phoenix, or San Fransico, you can partner with Curri and grow your business your way.
