2025 NMFC LTL freight class changes: Curri has you covered

New rules, more risk — unless you’re using Curri

On July 19, 2025, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) rolled out major updates to the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC®) system. These changes affect how Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight is classified and priced across the shipping industry.

What changed under the 2025 NMFC update:

  • A new 13-tier density scale is now used to determine freight class
  • Over 2,000 commodities were reclassified
  • Accurate weight and dimensions are now essential
  • Missing or incorrect data can lead to reclassifications, billing disputes, or delivery delays

For many shipping teams, these changes introduce more confusion and risk. But if you're booking with Curri, the hard part is already handled.

Curri keeps it simple

Curri’s logistics platform was built to simplify shipping, not add to the complexity. We’ve already integrated the new NMFC rules into our LTL tools, so your team can continue booking confidently without worrying about classifications or compliance.

Here’s how we help:

  • Freight class is automatically assigned based on the updated density scale
  • Bills of lading (BOLs) are pre-filled and fully compliant
  • Real-time pricing accounts for the latest NMFC requirements
  • API-ready infrastructure is being developed to support ongoing NMFC evolution

Our platform does the work behind the scenes to ensure your shipments stay on time and on budget.

Avoid reclass fees, delays, and wasted time

The 2025 NMFC changes create more opportunities for shipments to be misclassified, held up, or hit with surprise fees. Curri reduces that risk by automating the details that typically lead to problems.

When you ship with Curri, you:

  • Prevent reclassifications and unnecessary charges
  • Avoid delivery slowdowns caused by BOL errors
  • Eliminate manual entry and freight audits
  • Save hours of admin time and improve delivery reliability

We’re not just helping you stay compliant. We’re helping you avoid the operational and financial fallout of getting it wrong.

From local to nationwide, your LTL shipments are covered

Whether you’re shipping a single pallet across town or moving high-volume freight across the country, Curri connects you to a nationwide carrier network with real-time visibility and built-in LTL compliance.

  • Move construction materials, HVAC, pipe, pallets, and more
  • Get access to trusted carriers across the U.S.
  • Manage LTL, FTL, hotshots, and dedicated routes in one place

Curri is the only platform you need to handle any shipment.

Already using Curri? You’re covered. Not yet? Let’s fix that.

The 2025 NMFC changes are live, and Curri’s already ahead of them. If you're booking LTL with us, your shipments are already supported. And if you’re looking for a simpler way to manage freight, now’s the time to switch.
